About Course

Description:

The purpose of the SLP Labour Relations is to provide students with an overview of the historical development of labour/employment relations in the South African context and to explain the system of collective bargaining and dispute resolution mechanisms provided for by the legislation. The module further addresses grievance procedures, disciplinary actions, and retrenchment procedures in the workplace.

Admission Requirements:

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with certificate endorsement is required for admission.

Course Curriculum

1.      Explain the historical development of labour relations in South Africa.

2.      Demonstrate understanding of key labour legislation and employment rights.

3.      Explain collective bargaining processes and structures.

4.      Apply dispute resolution procedures within workplace environments.

5.      Analyse grievance and disciplinary procedures.

6.      Explain retrenchment and dismissal procedures in accordance with legislation.

7.      Demonstrate understanding of ethical labour practices and workplace fairness.

8.      Apply labour relations principles to workplace scenarios.
