About Course

Description:

The purpose of this short learning programme (SLP) in Contemporary Knowledge Management Techniques is to equip students with the knowledge and skill to identify the different elements of Knowledge Management (KM) within their work environments. The SLP is designed to equip students with the skills to formulate knowledge strategies and promote a knowledge-sharing culture through the use of Communities of Practice and knowledge cafés.

Admission Requirements:

• National Senior Certification (NSC) - NQF level 4;
OR
• Senior Certificate (SC) (before 2009) – level 4.

Course Curriculum

The following topics will be covered:

  • Importance of and drivers of Knowledge Management.
  • Corporate culture as a foundation for successful Knowledge Management.
  • How to create a knowledge-sharing culture through various tools and techniques.
  • Conducting a Knowledge Audit.
  • Steps to formulate a Knowledge Strategy.
  • Measuring the current Knowledge Management state of the organisation and determining a Knowledge Management course of action.

Learning Outcome(s):
At the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • identify the importance of and drivers of Knowledge Management;
  • integrate corporate culture as a foundation for successful Knowledge Management; and
  • harness key success factors when managing knowledge assets.
